Most teachers begin with the 200-Hour and continue into the 300-Hour when they feel ready, arriving at their RYT 500 one step at a time.
- Do I need the continuing education course before I move to the 300 or 500?
- No. The 30-hour continuing education course is never a prerequisite for advancing. You can go straight from the 200 to the 300, and on to the 500, whenever you feel ready. The continuing education course is a separate, optional path that Yoga Alliance asks every Registered Yoga Teacher to complete every three years to keep their credential current. It's there when your renewal comes due, at any level.
- What is the difference between the 200, 300, and 500-Hour trainings?
- The 200-Hour is where you begin. It is your foundation, the certification that qualifies you to teach as an RYT 200. The 300-Hour is the path you walk afterward, deepening your sequencing, your understanding, and your voice as a teacher. Together, the 200 and the 300 become the full 500-Hour journey and the RYT 500 credential. There is no need to rush; most teachers begin with the 200 and continue when the time feels right.
- Is the 200-Hour suitable for beginners?
- Yes. Many who begin here have never taught a class in their life. That is exactly who the 200-Hour is for.
